Welcome to my blog
Hi there. Take a seat. Get comfy.
Welcome.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Emre Aral and I’m a young graphic designer living in Sydney, Australia. I’m two years out of my design studies at university and still consider myself a “graduate” as far as my career is concerned, as I am yet to settle into a satisfying, square hole job.
I will, however, soon begin a new job as an information designer at a market research agency (working “in-house”, as they say). My first job out of uni was in a small brand design agency, where I worked on brand documents and retail mock-ups for a client in the alcoholic drinks industry. It’ll be interesting to compare the office dynamics and creative challenges of the two experiences, and I hope to share that with you down the track.
I want to use this blog as a platform to provide my opinions on design, as well as technology and visual culture – from the trivial things I notice in my everyday life, to the much more pervasive visual changes that manifest in our streets, on our screens and on store shelves. I would particularly like to put a spotlight on new work by Australian designers, and make a meaningful contribution to the discussion of local work.
I hope that you find my contributions valuable in some way, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on my articles and the works described within them.
I’m very excited to begin this writing journey. I don’t know where it’ll take me, but I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
Till next time.
