Pantone introduces 203 colours uniquely curated for polyester
To meet an increasing demand by consumers and manufacturers for more vibrant colours in apparel, textiles and home furnishings, Pantone – which provides professional colour standards for design industries – has just introduced 203 new colours uniquely curated for polyester. The material was chosen for its ability to display a colour depth that could not be reproduced by natural fibres (such as cotton) with the same degree of clarity or intensity.
The Pantone Polyester Standards is an addition to the company’s Fashion, Home + Interiors range, and includes colours ranging from “timeless neutrals” to pastels and “eye-popping neons”. To provide the most sought-after colours, Pantone focused on areas of significant market importance and colour trend movement. The result is a comprehensive assortment of hues that is relevant across all design industries, and complements the company’s existing cotton textile system.
The colours are presented in formats that will be familiar to fashion and home designers as their essential tools for inspiration and colour management. The Polyester Swatch Set is a convenient storage case containing all 203 colours on 2 × 2 inch, secured, double layered swatches on unbacked 100% polyester fabric for accurate colour measurement. Arranged by colour family, they are easy to review, select, and replace in three removable display trays. Each colour is also sold separately as a Swatch Card, a 4 × 4 inch piece that includes full spectral data, i.e. the exact dye recipe used to achieve that hue.
The new Polyester Standards set takes the guesswork out of how colours will translate from swatch to material. It allows precise visual colour evaluation and spectrophotometric colour reading, and gives designers greater confidence when communicating colours to clients and production partners.
The Polyester Swatch Set is available now from the Pantone Shop, and will set you back AU$990 (exc. GST).
