AGDA Design Awards 2018 winners announced
The Australian Graphic Design Associations’s (AGDA) Design Awards recognise the best work in Australia across a wide range of disciplines. The program aims to further the discussion about design and to stimulate the creative progress of our industry. It highlights every generation of talent, from students at colleges and universities, through to the long-established leaders of our profession.
Entries for this year’s Awards were open from June to August. Jurors considered all submissions against the criteria of “creativity”, “craft” and “communication” across 10 categories (and dozens of subcategories). The winners were announced at a gala presentation dinner in Melbourne last Saturday 10th November. You can view of all of the winning entries on the Awards site here, and view a gallery of photos from the presentation proceedings here.
An honourable mention must go to Studio of the Year winner – and an exemplar of best practice in design and business – Christopher Doyle & Co. With 22 entries resulting in 22 finalists, including 5 Distinctions and 7 Merits, across a diverse range of clients and sectors, Christopher Doyle & Co. consistently produces work that is on the leading edge of creativity and design. AGDA also announced the inaugural Emerging Designer of the Year – an award which recognises young designers making their mark on our industry – and it went to Josie Young from Christopher Doyle & Co. Josie has not only been involved with work both highly regarded and awarded, but she has also made remarkable contributions to the industry, from being a chair on the AGDA NSW Junior Council, to co-creating Dames and Dumplings, a mentorship event for young women in the design industry.
Well done to all finalists and award recipients.
